Jazz at the Centre - Washington Whirligig

Hi Everyone,

Well this is a case of better late than never. Don't worry I'll be back for Friday but I can confirm that it's just as wet in Cornwall as it is up north! But it's so nice down here with fewer tourists . . . oh hang on?! Anyway this month we have the originators of Jazz at the Centre, Washington Whirligig. There'll better toe tapping jazz, some Christmas tunes, the odd Kazoo incident and top of the list the Christmas Mince Pie Challenge. Pies have been bought and rules agreed all we need is an audience to partake of music and pies so we'll see you all on Friday

The band line up is David Hepworth (Band Leader / Clarinet / Saxophone / Kazoo), Andy Henderson (Trumpet / Vocals / Kazoo), Liz Hepworth (Double Bass / Vocals / Kazoo), Andy Bramall (Banjo / Guitar / Vocals / Kazoo) & Rob Cotterell (Drums / Sleigh Bells & Cowbell)

The Community Centre bar will be open for drinks and there will be the regular complimentary teas and coffees in the interval.

The rest of the season lines up as below:

Friday 16th January 2026 - The Dearne Big Band and Singers

Friday 13th February 2026 - Washington Whirligig

Friday 20th March 2026 - Worth Valley Hot Seven feat. Ruth Gardziel (tbc)

Concerts will be held at Darfield Community Centre, Illsley Road, Darfield, S73 9AL starting at 8pm. Entry is still £7.50 on the door, no need to book in advance, and there will of course be the obligatory raffle.
